Canberra artist Frances McMahon has been obsessively painting our stunning Australian native birds since age five. Her love of birds was nurtured by her father, a keen birdwatcher. Frances clearly remembers trying to keep up with his long strides!
Developed over many years, her astonishingly detailed paintings are masterfully and painstakingly created using the tiniest of brushes. A single painting may take many weeks to complete, with some details so fine they may only be seen with a magnifying glass. She is entirely self-taught.
Her original paintings are exclusively represented by the prestigious Morpeth Gallery in NSW.
Frances has won many awards and accolades for her work which include:
