Situated in the Main Range National Park 120 km south-west of Brisbane, Spring Creek plunges 40 metres from a eucalypt-topped ridge, over Queen Mary Falls, to a lush and misty rainforest gorge where visitors can enjoy the cooling spray of the waterfall. Easily visible from a lookout within the 2 km circuit walk, it is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage area.
This original painting by De Gillett Cox is 122 x 153 cm and utilises De’s hand-drawn, intricate stencils to describe the rich diversity of endemic and introduced plants such as the Morning Glory (Ipomoea purpurea) creeper.
